About the Piano Level Quiz
This free 2-minute quiz evaluates your piano skills across 8 dimensions — playing experience, sight-reading ability, hand independence, key signature comfort, metronome use, and pedaling technique — to place you in one of four levels.
Level 1 — Beginner
You're at the start of your piano journey. You're learning to read notes, play simple melodies, and build basic hand coordination. Pieces like Twinkle Twinkle Little Star and Happy Birthday are a great fit.
Level 2 — Early Intermediate
You've got the basics down and you're ready for real pieces. You can read simple sheet music and play hands together with straightforward rhythms. Try pieces like the opening of Für Elise or Moonlight Sonata's first movement.
Level 3 — Intermediate
You can handle real repertoire. You're comfortable with most key signatures, sight-read simple pieces, and use the sustain pedal with the harmony. River Flows in You and Experience are at your level.
Level 4 — Advanced
You're tackling serious repertoire with complex polyrhythms, expressive pedaling, and strong sight-reading. Pieces like Chopin's Ballade No. 1 and Liszt's Liebestraum are within reach.
